LANDFILLS: THE IMPACT
According to the journal Nature Climate Change, 262 million tons of clothing is thrown into landfills per year. These landfills do more then just take up space in the Earth. Chemicals such as methane and other green house gases are relased into the air to create golbal warming. The dye of the clothing seeps into the ground and near by water systems. These chemicals then make their way into the plants we eat and the water we drink.
